1. St. Kevin
The icon on the label that’s at the heart of the design is of St. Kevin.
Located in the heart of Ireland's Ancient East, Glendalough is also home to one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland, founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century.
Ancient lands are often steeped in stories and so it goes that St. Kevin retreated into the wilderness in search of purpose, and what he found was Glendalough. It’s said that as the saint marveled at the beauty he stretched out his arm as a blackbird happened by and flew into his hand. There it laid a clutch of eggs in his open palm. Unwilling to disturb them, he waited day and night until the eggs hatched and the birds flew on.
His likeness adorns the bottle as a strong, yet gentle guardian with bird in hand.
Glendalough Irish Gin pays homage to the saint’s legacy with a code of “treading lightly,” never taking too much from the land and treating it with respect and reverence.
