The premium packaging design for Grand Slam reposado tequila blew me away like an Aroldis Chapman fastball: the 1-L glass bottle of tequila is molded in the shape of a bat.
If you’re any kind of a baseball fan, you’ll note that the product name, WonderTeq, is a nod to Roy Hobbs’ homemade bat — named WonderBoy — from the classic baseball movie, The Natural.
The lifelike, simulated wood-grain shrink-sleeve provides the decoration. It fits skin-tight around the bottle, no small task considering that the bottle is tapered from bottom to top.
As if that weren’t enough, the high-quality wood base that permits the bottle to stand securely upright on the shelf is in the shape of a base: home plate. A wood rod that extends from the base; a pliable metal band around the mid-way point secures the bottle.
At the top of the bottle, a classic baseball handle and end knob with closure adds yet another impressive detail.
The packaging exudes high-quality attention-to-detail from top to bottom, hence the $99.99 price at a Binney’s Beverage Depot.
The packaging design, which is trademarked in the US, is a tape-measure, grand-slam homerun.
